This is the two sides of a Mesquite bowl, turned from a wood picked up in the firewood pile of a friends house in Tucson Az last February. The blue is crushed Turquoise glued in a crack. The finish is oil based urethane.
Pepper mill turned at a April 25th. class at Lee Valley - Victoria. Wood is mahogany. 6 people in a class room with 6 lathes and one instructor all doing the same pepper mill. (well sort of but I don't follow instructions well and had to make mine a little different.) I do have the mech for a salt mill (they are ceramic not steel like this one) and a large OLD oak limb big enough to do.
