Hummers are starting to "q" up for access to the feeder. Sat on the tree about 15 feet from the feeder and 6 feet outside the kitchen window long enough to allow us to get a camera.

This is a male varied thrush. Only the second time we've seen them here.
Last week, before it snowed, we saw four of them turning over leaves on the back grass. Today one of them found the seeds on our back deck kicked from the feeder above by the small birds. We put more seed on the deck and now there are three who have come by - including a female who chases the others away.

A baby robin adopted one of our lawn chairs as a place to sit. Spotted him when his frantic mother was calling loudly to get him move away from the house. She eventually came with food in her mouth and tempted him to flutter away.

This is a new-to-us visitor. The bird book says he is a Black Headed Grosbeak. He stayed and let us admire him for about ten minutes.

Very young Siskin. We were having much rain at the time, and these guys were not worried about us standing there holding the deck awning up to get this picture
