| | In 1990 I attended my first weaving & spinning conference in San Jose, CA. I bought some wool already combed and dyed ready for spinning. But other projects (and life) came first and the spinning didn't start until 2010. It was completed in the spring of 2011 after I retired, resulting in six good sized skeins. The smaller skein third from the left has one strand of each of the colours plied together. (04:05:2011) | |||
| The yarn then "matured" until February of this year when I decided to make a vest. I found a pattern I liked in a 1997 magazine - then modified it by adding the cable. Knitting stopped July through October while I knitted the alpaca scarf, as the vest was by then too big to carry around on vacation. Here it is finally finished, washed and pinned out with blocking wires to attain its final shape. (03:12:2015) | | |||
| | All the wires and pins removed. The body is alternating rows of the two colours of yarn. The flash found a change in the colour of the darker heathery yarn that doesn't show as badly in regular light. (07:12:2015) | |||
| All finished and ready to wear - the cables go around the back too. (07:12:2015) | | |||
| | Only 25 1/2 years since I bought the fibre for spinning! And not what I had in mind at the time. (07:12:2015) | |||
| It will be cozy on soggy days - like the day these photos were taken! (07:12:2015) | | |||
| | The small ball of bi-colour yarn and a bit of the darker yarn is all that is left. Maybe a coordinating scarf? (07:12:2015) | |||
