A warp of fine linen on the table loom. A header has been woven and a cartoon with the design pinned in place underneath. As this will be woven with the wrong side up, the cartoon is also upside down.

Weaving in progress. the linen is woven with openings between each shot - sort of like window screen - and then strips of fat yarn (8 ends of a fine shiny yarn) are woven in place to fill in the pattern. Several different strands go into the same row.

The "fireworks" above the letters require many different colours at once. The table loom is handy because the shafts that are raised are different for different colours.

(05:04:2016)

Keeping them all straight was a challenge. It sometimes took ten or fifteen minutes to weave one row.

Weaving the cartoon is complete, the header at the top has been woven and it is ready to be cut off.

(10:04:2016)

It's off the loom - this is the side that faced me as I was weaving.

(10:04:2016)

Finally I get to see the right side! But it's not finished yet - all those loose ends have to go and there is some embroidery to do.

(10:04:2016)

The back side again, after all of the ends were sewn in.

The fireworks were embellished by embroidering on some explosions!

(18:04:2016)

And the letters were outlined with a running stitch.
Taking pictures always results in an inspector appearing to "help."

Complete. The frame, of Brazilian Canary Wood, was made by Allan.

(25:04:2016)
It can't be hung on a wall for the display at the anniversary tea, so Allan made a stand for it to hang from.
