The other is content to stay as a bud.

The Japanese maple is the last tree to retain its leaves after a weekend of wind.

We picked up seven bags of leaves from the cherry tree and dogwood. This is just from the front yard.

Indoors - as though we needed one - we bought another Zygo cactus in a new colour. This is a lighter peach than the big orange one, which hasn't bloomed yet.

This guy got waked up early by the concrete saw on the paver job, and came out to supervise the last of the leaf bagging.

The back yard leaves have been picked up (for a second time) bagged, and now loaded on the truck for a trip to the dump/recycle facility.
In past years we have been able to put all the bags at the curb on 'yard waste day' and they went away. Not any more! Only three is the rule. This is 16 bags and 190 kg (418 lb) of wet leaves, and when we got to the dump we had to unbag them but we could bring the used bags home (right wet bags!!!). Plus it only cost $12.50 and 30 some Km to redeem this benefit.

In the past few days the maple tree at the top of the page has dropped most of its leaves - even a chickadee landing causes an flutter of leaves. There's been little wind so they've fallen straight down.

Under the tree - there are still snapdragons blooming at the end of November!
