A peek at Upper Campbell Lake on the way to Gold River.

Somebody lost a boot beside the "Welcome to Gold River sign!

(14:08:2016)

Maybe they were busy looking at this Salmon.

(14:08:2016)

About 13 km beyond Gold River you reach the Pacific Ocean at the end of Nootka Sound.

(14:08:2016)

You can go on float plane tours (we didn't).

(14:08:2016)

A working boat beside the log sort.

(14:08:2016)

Looking to the left, down the sound.

(14:08:2016)

To the right there were logs.

(14:08:2016)

And further right, the landing and saw mill. It didn't appear to be operating.

(14:08:2016)

More logs. Note the light house in the distance.

(14:08:2016)

There is also a busy boat launch for pleasure craft to go fishing.

(14:08:2016)

On the way back we stopped at a view point. We could hear water rushing far below but couldn't see much...

(14:08:2016)

except lots of trees and mossy rocks.

(14:08:2016)

Until we discovered that we were supposed to be looking across the road at the waterfall!

(14:08:2016)

The route to Gold river passes across the end of Strathcona Park.

(14:08:2016)

A view of Campbell Lake - formed by a Hydro dam on the Campbell River.

(14:08:2016)

Another look at the lake.

(14:08:2016)

For much of the trip from Campbell river to Gold River the "view" is of pavement and trees.

(14:08:2016)

But on a three kilometre side trip to see the hydro dam, there was no pavement, just trees.

(14:08:2016)

The water was roaring in the flume below the dam.

(14:08:2016)

Looking up the lake from the hydro dam.

(14:08:2016)

Sometimes, besides trees and pavement you can see the mountains too!
