Southbound on Highway 19 at about 9:30 AM. The clouds were low, but there was no rain and the road was dry.
We had a nice peek at the Salish Sea near the Buckley Bay corner.
There are mountains behind those clouds.
Around one more bend!
At Parksville we stopped at Buckerfields to buy some Mason bees and a lily. The chick were just so cute but none of them came home with us!
Approaching Ladysmith. We had also stopped at two places in Nanaimo for some quick shopping.
Of course there was road work! This is near Chemainus.
Lots of traffic by the time we reached the old bridge at Duncan.
Lunch at one of our favourite places - Pizzeria Prima Strada at Cobble Hill.
They have a real wood fired oven.
Jump ahead about two hours! We forgot pictures of the drive over the Malahat, across Victoria and Saanich to the northern tip of the peninsula to Fruit Trees and More Nursery, then back to Brentwood Bay in time to squeak onto the back of the 2:25 PM ferry to Mill Bay! (Because the ferry was running five minutes late.)
Looking back at Brentwood Bay.
Zooming in on the ferry dock.
We weren't the only ones looking at the scenery from the front of the ferry.
And we got to admire that amazing load of boards on the little truck in front of us.
Enjoying the Saanich inlet between the ferry and the town of Mill Bay.
Another look at the islands in the Saanich inlet. From there we boogied on up Hwy's 1 and 19 and arrived home at about 5:15 PM - the cats supper wasn't even late!
