The first rose of summer is a tiny blossom on the rose that hides beneath our Japanese dogwood.

At its feet this dusty miller has come up again - who knew that there are places where it is a perennial!

There are large alliums blooming at several spots around the yard.

These tiny flowers are from bulbs we planted two years ago, but never learned their name.

Slugs were eating the leaves on this small rhododendron in the back yard. The solution - we hope - is a ring of copper mesh and some wood ash.

We did the same thing for this nearby rhodo. The mesh is held in a circle by a ring of irrigation pipe.

These are the only blossoms on a tiny bleeding heart that has been trying to grow for a couple of years in a bad location.

The white bleeding heart is larger and has lots of blossoms. I don't know why they look blue here!

The Joseph's Coat climbing rose beside the garage is starting to bloom too. Now if we can stop it from growing under the siding.
