The start of some steps for into the lower level of the back yard.

This is how you get those nice mortis cuts in that 'contact with dirt' fence post wood.

(12:04:2021)

Filling in one of the subsided areas of the front yard. This is the root of the ornamental cherry tree. Over the years the tree root grew and the dirt shrunk. Last year the mower said politely to be careful when you go here this year it said take a hike turkey!

(13:04:2021)

This is one of the areas being filled with greenhouse dirt. There were some major ankle busting holes back here. So we'll level it up some and add some grass seed and see what we get. (Think mud pie).

(13:04:2021)

The source of all this dirt. The old greenhouse! It was 16 feet long, by 4 feet wide, and 18 inches deep.

(00:00:2021)
In the front yard there are more tulips in bloom.

(13:04:2021)
Bill and Paula (next door) referred to this as my 'kitty litter tree' but it really is a Gravenstein apple with its limbs pulled down with bags of sand. This is an old way for dwarfing what would normally be a full size apple tree.

(13:04:2021)

The next replanting job! This is a MacIntosh apple tree, that we have had for some 18 years. Moved from Kelowna to Courtney with us and has been our 'apple tree to take into retirement'. Well we will never move it from this address (way too heavy), so let's plant it where it sits. It is a water sprout from a dwarf Mac tree grafted to a M9 dwarfing root UPSIDE DOWN. Yes we do get apples from it basically every year (some times not so many but).

(13:04:2021)

Next to the pile of dirt, the leaves are appearing on the espaliate apple trees.

(13:04:2021)

The Pieris by the back deck now has new red leaves.

(13:04:2021)

The fountain/bird waterer is back in place under the back deck.

(13:04:2021)

And the adjacent climbing rose is growing like mad.

(13:04:2021)

Time to plant the upside down apple tree. First a big hole, in the hardpack dirt.

(15:04:2021)

Set the tree in and water well.

(15:04:2021)

Planted and ready for the new season.

(15:04:2021)

Front yard tulips are coming into bloom.

(17:04:2021)

We have to protect these from random deer attack. These are under our resident Japanese Maple, and seem to be safe.

(17:04:2021)

The miniature Japanese Maple (moved from Kelowna and well over 20 years old) was transplanted into the big pot the dwarf apple tree had been in.
