New Flowers and Yard Work April 7th and 12th

In the front yard the double primula that started to bloom in February is now completely covered in blossoms.

The early rhododendron is starting to show colour.

Back yard - the single primulas are blooming now also.

And the daffodils have a new crop of blossoms.

The current state of the garden starts under the basement lights. The plants in the background are all dahlias, with lettuce and tomatoes in the tray.

This is the yard work part of these pictures. The dirt left after we removed the greenhouse has to go somewhere! And the yard has a lot of uneven, and subsided places that need filling.

There are going to be places like this all over the back yard, that are going to need re-grassed this summer. It uses some of the dirt, and fixes up where water pools in heavy rain and snow melt.

This is the area where we took out hedge last summer when the fence was rebuilt.

One of the areas that the ground had subsided, around this particular root. This is likely the root that invaded the green house and destroyed it's productivity. Cut into 12 inch hunks with the reciprocating saw and a Lee Valley pruning blade just made to do the job.

Five days later - the first blossom of the season is open on the rhododendron.
