August heat season redux August 14th

This dahlia hides at a corner of the house and we almost missed it.

Nearby is a big patch of borage. It seems to like the heat.

The fuchsias are surviving the heat well as they get regular water.

A cherry tomato plant in the planter by the back deck will soon have lots to eat, which is good as the potted plants above are either finished or not ready yet.

A cucumber in the same planter will soon be ready to eat too. It's one of three plants keeping us in salads and cucumber sandwiches.

Even with the rotten weather in the spring, we are going to get a few apples this fall. This is the Empire apple's second summer.

Way back in July we started with a garden edging around the rhododendrons and peonies in the back yard. Well today the grass that was left got dug over and the potting soil from the back deck planters was added.
