We got tired of trying to protect the lilies from the deer using wire rings, so now there is bird netting - you can sort of see it if you expand the picture.
Getting this in place was several hours work as Allan had to drill the pieces of pipe that hold the braces in place, and get everything inserted in the right place. Then cord was run top and bottom and finally the netting was spread and attached to the cords with many pieces of garden Velcro. Do the driveway side and then repeat on the lawn side.

There is also a young big-leaf maple coming up from the stump of the large tree that was broken in a storm shortly after we moved here.

We continue to be amazed that this Dusty Miller is a perennial here. It was an annual everywhere else we have lived.

The Hansa rose is starting to bloom. It's a messy bush but so far has been allowed to survive because it is covered in blossoms this time of year.

The California poppies are already blooming too.

New birdbath/deer waterer in the front yard. Made up of a new plant tray and the 20 some year old pot that the Japanese maple to the left had been in.
