We haven't had this aquarium rose bowl out for over a year. We missed the 'last rose of summer' last fall and put it away for safe keeping. Prior to this we have had it on the dining room table for years, and found that roses work best, because they seem to last better in water that any others we have tried.

On the left is a Joseph's Coat, and on the right is Hot Cocoa, both of which are very late blooms.

The Joseph's Coat rose has been cut back to sticks. It was trying to climb over the roof.

Watch this spot next summer for some new colours of lilies. Some of the white ones were removed. This year's remaining lilies are the little "stumps" among the leaves.

The Japanese dogwood is turning red too.

Both the potted maple and the one beyond it are becoming more intense shades of red.

No frost yet (close!) so the dahlias are persisting.

Even the begonias are still blooming.

Human eyes see the yellow leaves glowing in the afternoon light. The camera wants to emphasize the greens and browns.
