Flowers in Spring? February 20th

Bunches of snow drops have been blooming all over the yard for two weeks.

These small crocuses are always the first to appear - and only open their blossoms when the sun hits them. As they are on the north-east side of the house they are closed for most of the day.

A few of the larger crocuses are appearing but not as many as previous years.

The miniature irises are just starting to bloom.

The "green" hellebores are starting to open their blossoms. These have been know to bloom in the snow in January.

The pink Hellebore is not far behind.

And the "black" one is almost there too.

Yard work has begun. Allan has pruned the fruit trees, and moved this rose from a shady spot by the garage to a sunnier spot beside our back patio.
The clematis that used to live here has been moved to the shady spot by the garage. It may not like it there, but it grows so vigorously that slowing it down will be a good thing.
