Well we now know where our crocus blossoms went this spring! What to do about it is the problem.

Please pardon the 'screen effect' in this picture, but it was shot from the ensuite window and I didn't want to remove the screen (and likely drop it)
The yellow area is where the backyard raised bed use to sit. The grass underneath where it was has been looking like this all winter. And in fact the grass didn't do well last summer, because if one walked across it the foot prints would turn colour almost immediately.
I'm betting that the ground is acidic, from manure that was dug into the raised bed a couple of years ago, that soaked down to ground level. Time to do a PH test?

The crop of this year's garden starts! Tomatoes, lettuce, herbs etc.

(28:03:2022)

These two pots are hanging tomatoes, that Irene harvested seed from her plant for me. Her plant (I think) is in year two and looking good for continued production in year three. The starts are about two weeks later than the rest of my plants.

These are the rest of my starts. Plan is to put a couple of each in 10 inch hanging baskets. All but one variety are ones I have never tried before, and I'm looking for something that will grow well in our yard.

The herb row. A couple of kinds of parsley, cilantro etc. The intent 'was' to plant them in the bed that was created as part of the terraforming of the side hill at the west end of the house. But with the rabbit invasion, one might have to rethink this.

The planting bed on the west side hill. This was taken (March 28th) with nothing planted yet but 'was' going to be the home of the herbs (pre rabbit that is)!

(28:03:2022)
The planting bed on the west side of the house with our only raised bed. When this was taken (March 28th) the raised bed has winter garlic up, and peas just planted today. The back half of the bed is asparagus, which hasn't shown signs of life yet!

Maybe one of the dumber ideas, but this is a bean pot that developed a crack. Rather that pitch it, we now have a herb pot (we hope).

Well a day later, and tomatoes transplanted into hanging baskets
