Fall Cleanup starts!
October 16th

The lilies and peonies beside the driveway have all had their tops removed!

The stem on this dahlia folded in half so it came into the house.

Can you believe that on October 16th there are three baskets of tender flowers still happily blooming!

(16:10:2022)

There are till some spots of colour in the front yard.

(16:10:2022)
One last late blue blossom on the lace hydrangea.

(16:10:2022)

All of the rest of the blossoms on it look like this.

(16:10:2022)
The fuchsia pots in the back yard still have blossoms too.

(16:10:2022)

At the back of the lawn there are still begonias.

(16:10:2022)
Another begonia. Everything is surrounded by the dry leaves falling from the big leaf maples.

(16:10:2022)

And a coleus. You can tell that we haven't had any frost yet!

(16:10:2022)
No need to put the winter heater in the bird bath yet either.

(16:10:2022)

We are still picking lettuce.

(16:10:2022)
The Black-eye-Susan vines we put at the edge of the retaining wall didn't do much all summer, but now look like they may be turning into weeds!

(16:10:2022)

Our one tomato plant still has tomatoes ripening!

(16:10:2022)

The last rose of summer?

(16:10:2022)

This, believe it or not, is our water heater! Down for it's every 5 year servicing. A little on the high tech side, everything checked out just fine, other than the fan on the exhaust side (which is open to an outside vent) had a couple of moths in it.

(20:10:2022)

Lawn edging planted! The two rhodos on the right were planted here this fall and the edging is to keep the grass (yeah right) from migrating into their space. The boot on the stool is to keep it from tipping when you sit on that end. Didn't have a any cedar or stain to make it right, but this works for now.

(20:10:2022)

The last, last dahlia. The stem looked too skinny to hold it up, so it came indoors where we can see it without waiting for it to fall over. The dahlias will all be dug soon.
