Things are still growing! September 21st

The Dawn Redwood in the yard next door sheds thousands of cones, but they seldom sprout new trees. This year there were several so we've potted four of them to see if we can grow at least one in a pot until it's big enough to give to someone with room in their yard for a very large tree.

This is the fourth planting of lettuce in this spot. With copper wire, ashes, coffee grounds and slug bait - so far this one has survived.

The lettuce in the other raised bed doesn't seem to be as badly infested with slugs. Maybe we will actually get to eat some!

There are flowers trailing over the end of the raised bed at the top of the slope.

"Bo Bo" the panicular hydrangea, is turning pink.

In the front yard, the tall things like lilies and roses are finished blooming, but the black-eyed-susans are still glowing in the sun.

This Martha Washington geranium has been blooming all summer!

The bracts on the Lace Hydrangea have turned from blue to mauve.

The Rose of Sharon is still covered in blossoms.

The hanging baskets have survived hot days and seem to be happy with slightly cooler weather.
