We are changing the side yard fencing so that the new "waste management bins" can have their own enclosure and be out of sight!
That will mean the fence with the hydrangea growing all over it will be pulled out and a new one put in about where the garbage cans start. As well there will be a tieback to where the old fence hit the fence next door. I will create an area about 6 feet by 6 feet, with a nice new paver surface.

Fence guy (Matthew Piercy) showed up on time with everything needed to get to work!

These two pictures were taken about a minute apart so no, he did not spend time on his phone!
As you can see the gate is off, and the gate post moved to its new location.

Inside the existing fence is a Climbing Hydrangea that wraps the fence posts and has been VERY slow growing. Going to have to cut it back some!

Sure hope it will recover! It has buds over most of the removed part!

First post hole done!
There was fair warning given that there could be rocks to remove!
We were right!

Existing gate is re hung, and tied open!
In its old location there was a gate latch attached to the house to latch it open and out of the way for garden/basement access. This is going to be an interesting job to re-establish it in that cluster of utility access boxes.

End of day 2.

The outside view!
The hole will get filled in - first with a chunk of the wire fence we use to protect plants from deer and next spring (or sooner if we can) a curved cedar latus.

The tie open latch for the gate
Not as big a problem as I figured it would be. A little cedar 2x4 was exactly the right thickness to get max gate opening. BUT the latch had to be moved down about three inches and learning to reach over to open the gate from the outside is not going to be easy!
