Add two days and the red rhododendron buds are open. This is about three weeks earlier than the past two years.

Even the Bridal Veil Spirea is starting to bloom. It is nearly a month early.

(05:04:2024)
The small red Pieris has only two blossoms this year. The cold spell in January must have damaged some buds.

(05:04:2024)

The tree Pieris is also starting to bloom, but all of the blossoms are on lower branches, none at the top.

(05:04:2024)
It has new growth all over. The new leaves start off red.

(05:04:2024)

The baby Ancient Redwood in a pot is starting to leaf out too!

(05:04:2024)
A few days later, and the small cherry tree in the back yard is starting to bloom. I hope that there will be warm enough days for the bees to come out!

(09:04:2024)

The bluebells are starting to bloom.

(09:04:2024)
There are also white "bluebells."

(09:04:2024)

Bluebells can become a weed!

(09:04:2024)
The Big Leaf Maples now have BIG buds!

(09:04:2024)
The Gravenstein apple has a blunch of new bags of sand to train the limbs to bend down for easy picking.

(09:04:2024)
The front door rhododendron is in full bloom now.

(13:04:2024)

Lots of blossoms on the clumping primula.

(13:04:2024)
There is just one orange tulip - so far - new tulips appear every day.

(13:04:2024)

Like these pretty in pink.

(13:04:2024)
No blossoms here - but lots of promise as the lilies are all coming up - and the rhubarb looks like it will be ready early too.

(13:04:2024)

The peas in the raised bed are getting bigger.

(13:04:2024)
The Pieris doesn't have a lot of blossoms this year, but the red new growth makes up for it.

(13:04:2024)
